My creations are not only a language, but a way of life.
I dive deep into the axis of time – to traditional crafts, and then integrate key elements with modern technology. I look closely at details, get a feeling for the materials, experiment, tirelessly searching. Very often, playing with a material is in fact a way of testing its limitations. I am fascinated by the search for the thin line between the point where a material collapses and the point where it maintains itself.
Soft materials are a good starting point ….and afterwards, anything is possible. Sometimes the softness disappears and the material becomes solid but the tenderness is always present .
The factor of texture is paramount when working with textiles – the sensory experience is inherent in the surface texture. We experience an object through observation and through touching and handling. My goal is to enable this kind of touch, in order to empower the relationship between ourselves and the objects around us.
