The game helps to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It raises the question of what a home is. A home is a hiding place and a safe haven, just as the shell is to the beetle – or a place full of activity and movement, like a bee hive, – or a soft cushion for raising the next generation, warming and protecting the eggs until they hatch. The toddler can pull either the house or the animal. The toy encourages fertile interaction between the child and an adult intermediary. Children learn a lot from oral contact. The textures are a collection of three dimensional prints, felt, knitting, and embroidery, all designed to stimulate the child’s senses.
